Let's talk first about entering a university.
The reality today is such that most parents have little faith that, having just a school knowledge base, a child can become a university student. Moreover, such skepticism applies to graduates of ordinary schools and graduates of specialized lyceums and gymnasiums.
The only exceptions are lyceums and gymnasiums, which have agreements with institutes or universities. In this case, final exams at the gymnasium are the entrance to the university. Naturally, they need to pass at a high enough level. If you are not going to buy a student card for a child, then September is the time to think about how to pass the graduation and entrance exams next year. After all, it is not a secret to anyone that there is often a huge gulf between the school program and the program for entering a university.It is in this situation not to do without a tutor.
If you already know exactly where your child will go, then it makes sense to look for a tutor among the teachers of your chosen educational institution. Being engaged with the teacher, you will not only test your child’s knowledge, but also be able to assess the level of requirements of this university.
In addition, each school has its own profile and, accordingly, its own specific bias in each academic discipline. If you need to pass, for example, mathematics, it is not enough to simply repeat what you learned in school. Because the mathematics for Narxoz, KPI and Pedagogical Institute are three big differences.
The same applies to the Ukrainian language. It would seem, learn the rules and go to take the exam. But it is necessary to take into account that dictations are written in some universities, in others essays, thirdly, they come up with some other grammatical or creative tasks. That is why, even having a program of your chosen educational institution, it is best to work with an institute tutor.
Let's sum up.So, the positive aspects of studying with a university teacher:
• the teacher knows exactly what needs to be repeated or learned in order to enter the selected university;
• possible (but not guaranteed) will be able to help with admission.
• it is possible that you will have to travel far to class.
If you still do not know where your child will go, but have already decided on a specialty, i.e. you know what subjects you have to pass when you enroll in a university, you need an “outside” teacher. "Why?", You ask, because you can contact the school teacher. At the same time, you can even kill two birds with one stone: raise knowledge and improve performance. Everything seems to be so, but there is one nuance.
Imagine: a pupil is a gem, a teacher is a jeweler. Each teacher has his own special method of cutting. And only from the side it is clear which edges are not sufficiently polished. In other words, despite the curriculum common to all schools, each teacher has his own methodology, his “favorite” and “not favorite” topics. And even if at school your child has an excellent subject, this does not mean that he has no knowledge gaps. That is why, in this case, it is better to use the services of a teacher "from the side." He will be able to objectively assess the level of knowledge and potential of your graduate.
Do not despair if the child’s school is considered "not capable." The tutor, using an individual approach, will try to interest the student, to give him confidence in his own abilities. And, as a result, increase the level of knowledge.
So, what do you win by studying with the teacher "from the side":
• the subject is being studied in full;
• you will find and eliminate gaps in knowledge;
• A teacher can be found close to home or arrange an activity in your area at a time convenient for you.
Disadvantages of such cooperation:
• the teacher's point of view in some matters may differ from the point of view of the school teacher. This may create a little discomfort for the child.
• it is not always the school teacher who is able to objectively assess the success of the child.
If your child wants to move from a regular school to a specialized lyceum or gymnasium, then you need, at a minimum, a teacher’s consultation on subjects that are specialized in the lyceum of your choice. Of course, it is best to get such a consultation from a teacher working in this lyceum.
What is it for? The teacher will test your child and assess the level of his knowledge. In addition, the teacher will tell you whether the child can study in this institution.After all, it often happens that parents, driven by their own ambitions, send their children to prestigious educational institutions, without thinking about how comfortable a child will be there. He may have insufficient training or simply not cope with the load. That is why the advice of an outside teacher is simply necessary. After receiving the information you need, you can decide what to do next: study with a tutor and fill in gaps in knowledge or leave the child in a regular school. Although if the child’s knowledge is not systematized or incomplete, it is still advisable for you to work out additionally. Not this year, so next. After all, knowledge behind the back is not worn, and they bring a lot of benefits.
Remember a few more nuances when choosing a tutor
• Do not chase for titles. Often, scientists who have a huge stock of knowledge are not able to pass them on to a child.
• Find two to three teachers and go to them "for an interview" with the child. In addition to the general impression of the tutors, you will receive several independent opinions about the state of knowledge of your child.
• Be sure to consider the opinion of the child.If he doesn’t like the teacher, there’s still no sense from the lessons.
