Scientists conducted a study in which 185 children and adolescents, 88 dads and 97 mothers took part. The main goal of the experiment was to understand why children have a fear of visiting the dentist.

The participants in the experiment completed the questionnaires, the scientists analyzed them and concluded that the basis of the fear of the dentist is their own negative experience in dental treatment and parental fear.

It turned out that children under the age of 13 are more influenced by the father’s fear of the dentist, and children over the age of 13 by the mother’s fear.
